One Twist

final glas 003

This drinking glass started with the forms of a classic wine glass in mind, where the bowl is connected to the foot through the stem. This transition is an important detail for a drinking glass design.

The stem is generally the narrowest part of a glass. A detail that deserves to be highlighted. In the search into the stem of the glass, different sketched led to a better understanding of what a stem can be and the alternative way of creating one.

What makes this drinking glass unique is the fact that a cylinder lacks a bottom. By applying one twisting motion a bowl, a stem and foot are created, resulting into the One Twist drinking glass.

This design is one of three winning designs of the 2024 Piet Hein Eek and Studio Barreda DDW24 Open Call, this glass went into produced and is for sale at the Piet Hein Eek shop.
