…with my little eye a world with a lot of plain wood imitation. People love to surround themselves with wood, however they often settle for flat and photographic imitations. At first glance, the imitations are seen as wood, however when you take a careful look at this material you start to relate to it differently.
Introducing a statement bench with a novel wood pattern that stretches the way we perceive wood. Wood can be as mesmerising as gems. To highlight the aesthetic possibilities in the imitation of wood I have applied a wood pattern onto this gem inspired surface. The facettes of the bench reveal a three-dimensional drawing, like the ones found in threes.
I have used traditional wood imitation painting techniques to add depth and a magical layer onto the bench’s surface. This magic stretches the beautiful patterns and effects found naturally in wood and makes for a more extravagant and imaginary pattern.
